![]() ![]() From what I've seen with the music-video infused intro to 2k13, it's pretty loud, obnoxious and ostentatious. ![]() Still, in the grand scheme of things, if it's just the menus and gameplay is still very good (I like what they did to the new controls and the shot-modifer key on the left trigger.) I'm surprised that 2k did this, but it's not terribly surprising it's strictly based on sales. I've only played the demo of 2k13 and the menus are a little over the top. Some people may state that the Jay-Z influence is racist or not needed because of their disregard for not wanting it in a game that has generally geared towards a simulation "feel". I pre-ordered through NewEgg yesterday after reading these posts for the past couple of days. I will get over it at some point but as of right now I just can't believe this.Īs someone who purchased 2k10 and hated it (too flipping hard, could never get the game play straight) and have purchased 2k11 (loved it, challenging game, but never felt "cheated" like I did with 2k10, if I lost. One of things I loved most about NBA2k, the authentic presentation package has been spray painted "Gooooooold" (in Goldmember's voice) and ished on. I think I am officially just an old lame because this overlay, meter package stuff seems like a practical joke. A freaking sprite dunk meter score or whatever, WTF? The game play in the demo seemed tight and much improved, fantastic even but this other stuff, I don't get it. That's what's killing it for me, this looks like something for NBA Street or some other arcade game. At least having Michael Jordan on everything in 2k11 made SENSEl, but this.? I dunno. Make no mistake, I still like how the game controls, I like the animations and all, but I think having Jay-Z be such a focus detracted from the overall experience and feel of the game. That's why they consulted TNT producers on presentation decisions. That's why the announcers are real people we're all familiar with. Well, I mean, there's also the whole change of the broadcast overlay with the gold, swords, and video gamey meters.Īnd before someone goes on a rant about, "Who cares, you racist geek, the controls of the game are great!", part of the whole appeal of basketball video games is that it's supposed to mirror a real NBA broadcast. ![]()
